Session 1:

God is not Idle (Habakkuk 1)

Habakkuk cries out to God, overwhelmed by the violence and injustice around him, wondering why God seems silent. God answers by saying He is not idle but is at work in surprising and unexpected ways. Even when His plans raise more questions than answers, Habakkuk chooses to wait and trust. We see that God’s ultimate response to evil is in Jesus. His death and resurrection prove that He is never inactive and bring us forgiveness and new life.

Session 2:

The Righteous Will Live by Faith (Habakkuk 2)

God responds to Habakkuk’s waiting by drawing a sharp contrast between the proud who trust in themselves and the righteous who live by faith. He promises judgment on those who are arrogant and oppressive but assures safety for those who trust Him. Through the “woe” statements God makes clear that He sees evil and will bring justice. Romans reminds us that anyone can be made right with God through faith in Jesus. For those who trust Him, God offers peace, security, and hope in His sovereignty.

Session 3:

God is the Glorious and Powerful Rescuer (Habakkuk 3)

Habakkuk sees a vision of God’s glory, power, and judgment. Creation itself trembles and Habakkuk is filled with fear, yet he chooses to wait patiently and trust in God’s justice. Even in the face of suffering, chaos, and brokenness, he rejoices in God’s goodness and finds peace in His sovereignty. The book closes with confidence: God is his strength and protection. For us this points to Jesus, God’s ultimate rescue plan, who brings freedom, joy, and security through His death and resurrection.
