Ruth 1:1-6
The famine in the land shows that it’s foolish to ignore God’s word, but the Israelites had chosen this path. See the foolishness of looking for temporary blessings in this world, in spite of the blessings found in God’s word.
Ruth 1:6-22
Between Moab and Bethlehem, Naomi, Orpah, and Ruth face a crossroads. Ruth chooses costly loyalty and commitment to God and His people, Naomi wrestles with God’s goodness, and Orpah walks away. Reflect on how God’s kindness and sovereignty shape our choices, even when faithfulness is costly, and prioritise commitment to God and His people.
Ruth 2
God’s sovereignty is at work, providing extraordinary grace and kindness to Ruth and Naomi through Boaz. Recognise God’s kindness in the ordinary, see His hand at work, and respond with humility, faith, and grace.
Ruth 3
Ruth 4
The story ends with Boaz becoming Ruth’s redeemer; he cares more about Ruth than gaining land. But this is only a glimpse of a far greater redemption. Through the line of Ruth comes Jesus, the perfect Redeemer, who offers eternal rescue to all who trust in Him. Celebrate God’s sovereign plan of redemption, see how Ruth points us to Jesus, and respond with praise for the rescue He brings.
