Autumn Term

Kick off the year by exploring the identity of Jesus in the first eight chapters of Mark’s Gospel. Who is Jesus? uses Jesus’ miracles and teaching to build a picture of who He is, ultimately revealing Him as the promised Messiah. This flows naturally into the Character Snapshot of Bartimaeus, a man who recognised Jesus’ identity, understood His power, and knew his own need for Him. Together, these sessions encourage young people to recognise who Jesus is and respond by putting their trust in Him.

After Half Term, explore the Character Snapshot of Rahab, an unlikely recipient of God’s grace who became part of His rescue plan and even appears in Jesus’ family line. Her story highlights God’s faithfulness and provides a natural bridge into Christmas. The term concludes by celebrating the arrival of the promised Messiah through the Christmas story, exploring the themes of hope, promise, fulfilment, joy and gift through the familiar nativity passages.

Alongside all this, study through Colossians in your one-to-one mentoring. As the term explores the identity of Jesus through Mark’s Gospel and the Christmas story, Colossians helps deepen an appreciation of who He is and lays strong foundations for faith and discipleship

Spring Term

Begin January with two more Character Snapshots that explore different ways of faithfully serving God. Bezalel highlights how creativity and craftsmanship are gifts for God’s glory, while Deborah demonstrates courageous leadership, wisdom and trust in God during difficult circumstances. Following this, explore the book of Habakkuk, a prophet who wrestled with difficult questions about suffering, injustice and God’s purposes. As Habakkuk learns to trust God’s wisdom and sovereignty, young people are encouraged to bring their own questions to God and discover what it means to live by faith.

As spring begins to arrive after Half Term, explore the blossoming love celebrated in Song of Songs, discussing God’s good design for love, marriage and sex. In a culture filled with confusion and conflicting voices, Song of Songs presents a beautiful, aspirational celebration of love.

Summer Term

Begin the Summer Term with the Character Snapshot of Cornelius, a man whose life was transformed as he responded to the Good News of Jesus. His story highlights God’s desire to save people from every background and provides a natural introduction to the book of Jonah. Through Jonah’s reluctance and Nineveh’s repentance, young people discover God’s compassion, mercy and desire to rescue those who are far from Him.

Following Half Term, explore the book of Philemon, a powerful picture of forgiveness, reconciliation and transformed relationships. The year then concludes with Haggai, where God’s people are challenged to prioritise His kingdom and live for Him. Together, these studies encourage young people to consider how their faith shapes both their relationships and their priorities.

Alongside all this, study through Ruth in your one-to-one mentoring. Through Ruth’s journey of loss, loyalty and redemption, young people discover God’s faithfulness in ordinary circumstances and gain a deeper appreciation of His greater rescue plan.

Choose a series

Verdant offers three types of series to fit your setting:
  1. Evangelism: Designed for youth club settings, where you’re looking to spark interest in Jesus and explore the gospel together. Each series includes an interactive talk and group discussion outlines, along with games, crafts, discussion starters, and Going Further activities for diving in deeper.
  2. Discipleship: Ideal for small groups or Sunday school, with Bible study outlines that encourage conversation. Each session includes smaller games, illustrations, discussion starters, and Going Further activities to extend discussion and build on application.
  3. Mentoring: Tailored for one-to-one discipleship, with Bible study outlines that support personal growth and accountability. These guides include discussion based starters and Going Further activities that dig into specific topics from the study.
